Starting a new project has always been difficult for me. I work best when given a problem to solve and jumping in headfirst to solve it. Abstract things, like "Make a website!" have always stumped me. What should it be? How should I maintain it? What technologies should I use?
I was intending on showing off my chops by having a crazy canvas application, much like my last professional project VirtualViewer, but that was choking me. I kept staring at the screen, looking up advice, and finally I decided "The best place to start is to just clearly state my intentions."
So that is what this is: A statement of intent. This summer I was laid off and my professional life slowly started to erode. I had to create a resume, I had to apply for unemployment, and I had to start the job search. This website was always on my ToDo list, but it never seemed as important as getting a job. And of course I was putting the cart before the horse. What I really needed was to write all of this down somewhere, and thus I am starting this blog portion of my website.
I plan on documenting the things that I am proud of here. That will range to anything that I think people would find useful or interesting. From designing my LANCER campaign, to games I design, to cooking creations, to game critique. I'm going to try to keep this plate spinning for as long as I am capable. I don't use Social Media aside from Discord, so this is where I'll be writing down my observations and sharing my knowledge for others. I will post no less than once a week, and no more than once a day.
Hopefully after I start the blog, I will slowly snowball this site to be a core platform for me to start other projects. The first step is always the hardest, and here is my first official step, screaming into the void and hoping my words reach out and positively influence those who read them.
